Max Beljaeff

How old are you? I am 24 years old.

How long have you been riding? I have been riding Bmx for 10 years.

What got you into riding? A middle school teacher brought in a copy of Road fools (maybe 8?) and we watched it during after school program because it was raining outside. Shout out to that teacher!

What inspires you to ride? I get inspired buy seeing all my friends do rad things.

Who is your favorite rider? Why? Damn, I have a lot of favorite riders but if I have to choose one it would be Matt Lough (@mattloughbmx) because that dude is always having fun on his bike and he can do whatever he wants on it.

What is your favorite place to ride? My favorite place to ride would have to be Estabrook. It’s a DIY in an old tennis court in Milwaukee. It’s got some awesome flatbars and a beer Garden right next to it!

What is the dream place to ride? My dream place to go ride would for sure be Japan. It just looks so sick and I love cruising through cities at night. It just looks so cool.

What is one thing you love about BMX? One thing I love about Bmx is that you can do it however you want to.

Where is your favorite place you have traveled to in BMX? My favorite place I have traveled to is Barcelona. I went a few years ago with a whole crew of dudes for a month and it was a blast. The whole place is just a giant skatepark. You will be on the way to a spot, and find 4 spots on the eat to that one.

What is a problem that you see with BMX today? People with a shitty attitude.

What is a memorable BMX moment that you remember? Any stories? When I was in Barcelona is got to hang out and drink a couple beers with Sergio Layos at a skatepark.

What are some ways that you deal with injury? Usually when I get hurt I’ll just try and chill for a few days and ice whatever hurts.

What are some things you like about your local 4 seasons? I like that Four Seasons (@4seasonssk8park) treats everyone who goes there with respect. The guys that run and work there really make you feel welcome. The park is also super sick because it has a little bit of everything to ride. So no matter your skill level or what your ride, you will always have a great time. Thursday night is Bmx night so if you’re ever in town stop on over! Also, huge Shout out to Neil and Jeff G! Those dudes kickass!

How had riding affected your life? Positively? Biking is sick. I have had the opportunity to meet some rad ass people and see some awesome stuff. It’s crazy to think that a bicycle has brought me so much happiness and good memories.

Do you think your mustache gives you special abilities? I don’t think I could say it gives me any special abilities but if for sure keeps my lip warm during the harsh Wisconsin winters.

Are there any extra words you would like to have in the article? Shout out to my MPEG homies all across the states! Also, a huge shout out to Mike Hinkens and Matt Coplon for hooking me up with some sweet wheel deals from Madera. Best hubs in the game and if you disagree you are lacking hard. The whole Milwaukee bmx scene is tight as fuck. If you’re reading this and ever need a spot in Milwaukee to crash, hit me up.
